The Seattle Mariners' offseason wishlist includes adding a left-handed power reliever.

Jerry Dipoto is looking for "a legit late-inning presence."

Adding a reliever would give the Mariners another option in the late innings and the chance to use a pitcher for more than an inning.

"In a way," Dipoto said, "this is a return to the way that it used to be. It wasn’t until the eighties that teams began to save their best reliever for the end of the game."

Jonathan Lucroy says he has no regrets a few months after nixing a trade to the Cleveland Indians, who will host the World Series this week.

The Milwaukee Brewers were on the verge of dealing Lucroy to the Indians on Aug. 1, but he blocked the deal using his no-trade clause. He was then dealt to the Texas Rangers.

"I'm good, man,'' Lucroy told Jerry Crasnick. "There's too much drama with all that. I'm not worried about it at all. It's over with and in the past.''

Lucroy has a $5.25 million club option for 2017.

He said the decision to reject the trade to Cleveland was "an economic decision. Period."

The Toronto Blue Jays had interest in acquiring Carlos Beltran from the New York Yankees prior to the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline.

"We saw Beltran over the years with the Yankees, and what a great hitter he was," John Gibbons said. "A clutch-type performer."

New York traded Beltran to the Texas Rangers.

Both in the American League East, the Yankees and Blue Jays haven't completed a trade since 2002.

Brian Cashman doesn't foresee the New York Yankees dealing a host of young talent in exchange for a front-line starter like Chris Sale this offseason.

Cashman said he'd be "hard-pressed" to part with enough talent to pull off a major trade.

The Yankees went against the grain this past summer, dealing their own stars for young talent.
